Former rap mogul Marion ‘Suge’ Knight was taken to the hospital for a third time after telling a judge that he was going blind and suffering other health complications from gunshot wounds. He said that he was not receiving adequate medical treatment and that he had fired his lawyers.

The Death Row Records co-founder appeared briefly in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday wearing glasses and claiming to be blind in one eye with 15 percent vision in the other, reports the Daily Mail.

Knight, 49, has pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run charges after a Jan. 29 altercation in which he allegedly struck two men with his vehicle, killing one. Authorities say Knight injured 51-year-old Cle “Bone” Sloan and killed 55-year-old Terry Carter in the Compton, California incident.

His lawyer claimed Knight acted in self defense after being ambushed and fearing for his life. He was out on bail on a separate robbery charge at the time.

The blindness and other complications may be the result of an incident in August during which Knight was shot six times at a nightclub. Knight had previously been hospitalized twice before, both times in February. He was hospitalized February 3 after having a panic attack after pleading not guilty, and it was reported that he had suffered a blood clot and had been administered blood thinners. And on February 19, he was hospitalized with stomach problems.
