Bradley Cooper is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to make his directorial debut in the remake of A Star is Born.

Once things are finalized, Cooper plans to approach Beyoncé about playing the lead role.

After a double Oscar nomination from American Sniper, Cooper is looking to sink his teeth into new opportunities. It looks like he will try his hand at the script alongside Will Fetters, and he will be producing with Todd Phillips. Jon Peters, Billy Gerber and Basil Iwanyk.

Other leading men that Warner Bros. has considered have included the likes of Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale. Beyonce had been considering the lead female part back when Clint Eastwood was slated to direct, with Cooper as the male lead, and throughout the process of finalizing this film, her name has most often been mentioned for the lead female role.

A Star is Born was first seen as a 1937 film starring Fredrick March and Janet Gaynor, and Warner Bros. tried its hand at the classic in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason. 1976 saw a remake with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand, so it’s high time that this generation saw their version of this timeless tale.
