An Illinois high school cafeteria worker was arrested after police learned that she had sex with a male student.

According to WLS-TV, Joi Taylor, a 32-year-old cafeteria monitor at Proviso West High School in Hillside, has been charged with felony sex assault and indecent solicitation of a child. Police say that she allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old student in the church parking lot near the school and also allege that she solicited the student’s 18-year-old older brother.

“She was a figure of authority, a supervising figure, and she breached this authority, and she breached this trust,” said Steve Saks, attorney for the alleged victim.

Both boys participated in athletics at the school and were both allegedly threatened. Taylor told them that they would be unable to participate if they were to tell anyone what was going on.

“She threatened them that if they told, they would be ineligible or unable to pursue those activities,” Saks said.

Proviso West administrators have since released a statement on the matter that reads:

We are always concerned about the safety of our students, and we will work diligently with the students and their families regarding their safety and in resolving this situation.

As the investigation continues, Taylor has been placed on leave.
