A Baltimore woman was found pushing her dead 3-year-old son in a park swing on Friday. Authorities are not sure how long she was at the park and say she may have been the for hours or even since the previous day.

While there were not any obvious signs of foul play, the possibility had not yet been ruled out. However, authorities have spent the past several days trying “to find out what was going on in her life, what led to this moment.”

The sheriff’s deputies arrived at 7 a.m. to the La Plata, Maryland, park after being called to check on the mother and child. Although they moved to give the boy first aid and remove him from the swing, “it was instantaneously clear the child was dead.”

After the deputies cut the chain on the swing’s seat and removed the child’s body, they took the boy to the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

The unidentified woman answered a few questions before being taken for medical evaluation. She had apparently been staying in La Plata with a relative, and she listed several addresses. The addresses included one in Washington and another in Charles County, which is where La Plata is, 30 miles southeast of Washington.
