An 18-year-old football player who recently lost his battle with kidney cancer had one last request to make of his teammates: He wanted to go through the tunnel into the Coffee County High School stadium one last time.

In a touching tribute, teammates carried Malik Sparkman’s coffin through the tunnel and across the field to the end zone.

The teammates’ kind act has already spread to millions on social media, who are applauding the young man’s display of friendship.

Over 500 friends and family members attended the tribute to Sparkman earlier this week. When a video of the e the video of Malik had finished playing, they were all in tears.

“They’re hanging in there as a team. It brought their team closer. They’re strong,” Tia Williams, Malik’s girlfriend, said. “They did take it hard at the funeral, but they know he’s not suffering anymore.”

It’s hard to say goodbye to someone so young and who had such a promising life ahead of him. Malik would have graduated next year and was already being recruited by Florida State.

“He always said he wasn’t ever gonna give up and God has him,” said Tia Williams. “He was a fighter.”

The football team is already trying to find a way to honor Malik during next year’s season.
