Tyrese has set his sights on an Oscar, and he’s hoping his new music video will help him get it.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, the veteran R&B singer opened up about his quest for the golden statue. His latest music video is for his new single, “Shame,” off his forthcoming and final studio album, Black Rose.

The singer/actor recruited an all-star team for the project, including Oscar winners Jennifer Hudson to star, Denzel Washington to produce and music video icon Paul Hunter to direct.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of musical storytellers Michael Jackson and R.Kelly, Tyrese and Hudson play a husband and wife trapped in a relationship fraught with regret.

Tyrese released a one-minute trailer for the short film/music video Tuesday, vowing to take the project on the short film circuit this fall in the hopes of qualifying for an Oscar nomination.

Can he do it? Only time will tell.
