Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Ghanaian musician Fuse ODG of London took to Twitter to criticize the recent BET Awards Show for its lack of spotlight on the Best International Act – Africa award, for which he was nominated.

Fuse was not upset that he didn’t win the nomination but was instead voicing his frustration with what he saw as a lack of respect for African artists.

“Dear @BET, the reason why I didn’t come is because you give our awards backstage! You have no respect for our hard work and achievements,” he tweeted angrily, referring to his decision not to attend the awards but instead to perform at the Glastonbury Music Festival.

The singer’s Tweet made waves on Twitter receiving more than 5,000 tweets and hundreds of comments from fans.

Although there has been no official response or statement with regards to Fuse’s comments, his name has since disappeared from the list of nominees for the Best International Act – Africa award.
