Chris Brown is reportedly filing docs to establish the paternity of his daughter, Royalty, so that he can try to “make things right for her.”

Royalty’s mother, Nia Guzman, has reportedly been at odds with Brown, demanding $15,000 per month in child support rather than the $2,500 a month he is currently paying, according to TMZ.

Brown is reportedly trying to become more involved in his daughter’s life. That has proven difficult, though, because Guzman has made even seeing their daughter hard for the singer.

But despite his dispute with her mother, Brown has maintained that being a father was the best thing to happen to him. In June, he opened up about the impact fatherhood has had on him:

For me, there comes a time where people have to grow up and start becoming more of an adult and taking responsibility, and I think this was just a blessing in disguise with my daughter. I get a chance to like look at her and you know, teach her stuff, the right path, and also be a father in my daughter’s lifE. Just to see the smile on her face, just to see the littlest things, it’s emotional for me. So I just love that aspect of being able to be a father now.
