World Wide Nate brings you Los Angeles

theGRIO -

Los Angeles, California, HOLLYWOOD, is famous for its film and television industry. It’s also infamous for its residents, including Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Kim and Kanye just to name a few… quite a few.

The city of Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States and lies in the largest costal basin. LA, nicknamed the City of Angels, is also known for its warm climates, ethnic diversity and beautiful landscapes — the place where “dreams come true!”

Los Angeles is called a “global city” due to its business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine and research (ranked sixth in the Global Cities Index and 9th Global Economic Power Index).

Home to Universal Studios (Hollywood), Griffith Park, the Santa Monica Pier, the Museum of Contemporary Arts, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the TCL Chinese Theater, Los Angeles has a rich and diverse community — one that can either lavish its visitors or create a lifestyle that can envelop its residents with beauty and comfort.

However, there is much more to HOLLYWOOD than just that! With its first settlers arriving in the 1700’s, the population growth in the 1900’s, the race relations boil-over in the 1960’s, and the Northridge earthquake in 1994 that took the lives of 72 residents and caused $12.5 billion worth of damage — LA is a city that re-invents itself.

Take, for example, Mozzaplex (641 N. Highland Ave). Named one of the BEST pizzerias in the US, Mozzaplex prides itself on organic ingredients. For a café inspired restaurant, check out the Eat, on 11108 Magnolia Blvd, which is known for its breakfast pastas, (YES BREAKFAST PASTAS), omelets, and burgers. If tacos (Korean tacos, that is) are more your style, visit Kogi BBQ Truck. Kogi’s is a place anyone can enjoy a Korean short rib taco or a hot dog covered in kimchi and romaine lettuce, topped with Sriracha. Or maybe the Rivera? Rivera is owned by John Sedlar and opened only a few years ago, located at 1050 S. Flower St. (downtown). Here, foodies can indulge in authentic pan-Latin cuisines.

But one can’t just “live” on food alone! Discovering LA’s nightlife is like being a kid in a candy store. The entertainment options are limitless. Whether it’s a special occasion or dancing the night away, HOLLYWOOD is undeniably LIVE!

The Mayan Theater has provided LA with the most stunning audiovisual experiences for the past 25 years. The Avalon is a must. Located on Vine Street, the Avalon spins for all types, from hip hop to house music. The Vault Nightclub provides bottles service, great music, and a chic but sophisticated atmosphere for club-goers.

Whether you’re standing for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers at the Staple Center, taking a train ride through Griffith Park, basking in the captive views on Venice Beach, or hiking a trail at Runyon Canyon, Los Angeles, “the city of angels,” will be your guide! WELCOME TO LA!
