Last month Saved by the Bell actress Lark Voorhies had a shotgun wedding in Las Vegas to her boyfriend she met on Facebook, Jimmy Green.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight Voorhies defends her marriage to Green and blasts her mother for filing a restraining order against her new husband.
“He’s not [taking advantage of me],” Voorhies, 41, told ET‘s Kevin Frazier in an interview that quickly turned bizarre. “We’re selectively together for all the right reasons.”
Green also spoke up to defend himself and declare his sincere love for his new bride.
“We’re the same as any other couple out there that’s in love and trying to accomplish business together. It’s not a scam or a way to get money.”
Despite the recent restraining order, Voorhies says she believes her mother is slowly warming up to her new son-in-law.
“The support was there. It’s all celebratory,” Voorhies said.
In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Voorhies’ mother said her daughter lived with her because she was “psychologically, mentally, and emotionally fragile,” all claims which her daughter denied. “I’ve always been mentally healthy,” said the former child star.
