A Michigan man tried to hide from the police by hanging out on his roof.

Simply put, it was a fail.

The photo of his attempt was taken by the man’s neighbor and it quickly went viral.

“They’ve been looking for him for 10 minutes,” read the caption on the photo, which has been seen more than 3 million times on Imgur.

The man, Edward Martin had allegedly already slammed the door on the police when they arrived to investigate a domestic disturbance. Martin’s wife finally opened the door to them, and according to police, there were signs of domestic assault.

That’s when Martin thought it best to hide on the roof.

The police searched the house for Martin, but the elaborate game of hide-and-seek finally ended when an officer who was outside the house spotted Martin in his hiding place and called his fellow officers out from inside the house.

They ordered him down from the roof and arrested him for resisting arrest and for obstructing police.

After the arrest, the police heard about the viral image.

The Grand Rapids Police Department explained the entire situation on its official Facebook page:

Martin was taken to Kent County Jail and later released. He’s set to appear in court next week.
