Texas man admits to murder with chilling phone call

Only hours after the murder of his ex-girlfriend, along with her husband and six children, David Ray Conley called up the victim’s brother to confess to the killings.

Earl Yanske, whose sister, Valerie Jackson, was Conley’s ex-girlfriend, said that Conley called him late Saturday night, hours after Conley broke into Jackson’s home.

“I need to ask you a question,” Yanske said. “Did you kill my sister?”

“Yes I did,” came the chillingly calm response.

“It was like me asking if he went to the grocery store and he said, ‘Yeah,’” Conley said. “There was totally no emotion in his voice.”

Conley was arrested after breaking into Jackson’s home, which was once his home, and handcuffing the eight people who lived there and killing them all. One of those killed was Conley’s son.

Yanske said that Conley had a history of domestic abuse against his sister and her children that dated back to 2000 and had even threatened her with a knife and wrapped an electrical cord around her baby’s neck.

Conley is now being held without bail and had his first court appearance on Monday. Harris County district attorney Devon Anderson has said that seeking the death penalty for Conley would be a “no-brainer.”
