Tyler Perry’s stage play, “Madea on the Run,” is in trouble with unions.

Actor’s Equity has put the show, which is currently touring the country, on its “do not work” list and has informed its members that they will face disciplinary action if they work on the show. SAG-AFTRA has also told its members not to work the show, although they do not represent stage actors.

SAG-AFTRA has a reciprocal agreement with Actor’s Equity known as Rule 9 that states that its members will not work on productions that are on Equity’s “do not work” list. SAG-AFTRA has told its members that violating Rule 9 would be considered “conduct unbecoming a member.”

The producers for the stage play have not yet commented on the matter.

This is not the first time Perry has been hit with unfair employment standards.

In 2008, the Writer’s Guild of America accused the director of unfair labor after Perry fired four writers on “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns” in alleged retaliation for their efforts to negotiate a WGAW contract for scribes on the show.

The dispute was later resolved, in undisclosed negotiations between Perry and WGA.

Perry is currently a member of the Directors Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild.
