BET Punk'd fans into believing 'Uncut' was returning to TV

theGRIO REPORT - BET surprised audiences after revealing that they were just joking about bringing the raunchy late-night video series, 'Uncut,' back to TV...

Yes, we’ve been had.

BET isn’t bringing back the steamy late-night music series Uncut. Instead, they’re bringing back Punk’d, and their first joke was on their viewers, for making us think we were once again getting risque music videos at 11 at night.

Last week BET announced that it was going to air episodes of Uncut, which was criticized and eventually taken off the air in 2006 for being too-hot for TV.

But viewers who tuned in to watch Uncut for its premiere episode at 11pm last night, they were instead greeted by hosts Andrew Bachelor and DeStorm Power.

The episode began with this disclaimer: “This program is for mature audiences only. It contains material which some viewers may find objectionable or inappropriate for viewing by children under the age of 17. Viewer discretion is advised.”

Then, a few scenes from Nelly’s infamous “Tip Drill” video played, interrupted occasionally by static interference, before Bachelor and Power took over the screen.

“So ya’ll thought you were going to see BET Uncut?” Bachelor asked. He and Power pointed at the camera and laughed. “Got ‘em!”

“Well, we’re here to tell you that you just got punked,” Power finished.

What followed was an episode of old clips from the glory days of Punk’d back in its MTV heyday.

Now that we’ve been had, though, we can hopefully look forward to more hilarious hijinks in the future!

Punk’d premieres Tuesday August 18, at 10:30/9:30C on BET.
