14-year-old saves his siblings from home invasion by pointing rifle at intruders
A North Las Vegas teenager is being credited with saving his younger siblings when home invaders attempted to break-in.
A North Las Vegas teenager is being credited with saving his younger siblings when home invaders attempted to break-in.
Fourteen-year-old Andrew Mason was home with his younger brother and sister, both 6, when two men gained entry to his family’s home, and the young man knew how to handle the situation.
“I went upstairs and grabbed my brother and told him to hide in the closet. I grabbed a cell phone off my dad’s dresser, grabbed my rifle and hid in the closet with my brother,” Mason told KVVU-TV.
Mason’s father, Kiewa Mason, told the local Fox affiliate he and his family have practiced a break-in scenario.
“I believe in the right to bear arms, and it’s not like he was foreign to it,” Kiewa Mason said. “We go to the shooting range quite often.”
When the home invaders opened the closet Andrew was in, he said they took off as soon as he pointed the gun at them.
“He’s excellent. He did everything perfectly. [He] couldn’t have done better, and he’s actually a hero,” the proud father said.
