Selena Gomez talks 'Hotel Transylvania 2,' diversity in Hollywood

Selena Gomez sat down with theGrio to talk about her upcoming animated film Hotel Transylvania 2.

Selena Gomez sat down with theGrio to talk about her upcoming animated film, Hotel Transylvania 2.

Gomez reprises her role as Mavis, the 125-year-old daughter of Dracula (Adam Sandler). In the first film, Mavis marries her love, Jonathan (Andy Samberg), and this time around, the young couple is raising their son, Dennis.

Mavis went through a transition between films, and that’s something Gomez could relate to.

“We did the first [film] three years ago, so already there’s so much that’s happened in my life in the past year, let alone three,” the 23-year-old said.

In the film, Mavis travels to California to visit her in-laws, while Drac watches Dennis and enlists the help of his fellow monster friends to try and scare the monster out of his young half-vampire, half-human grandson.

You may recognize some other famous voices throughout the film, including Key & Peele‘s Keegan-Michael Key, Mel Brooks, Kevin James and Steve Buscemi.

Gomez also touched on the topic of diversity in Hollywood. The young star told theGrio when she started out on the Disney Channel, she didn’t face any discrimination or notice any diversity issues.
