It seems like just yesterday Raven-Symoné was playing coy with Oprah about calling herself gay.

However, on Tuesday’s broadcast of The View, the co-host identified herself as a a “part of the gay and transgender community” and pushed presidential candidate Rick Santorum to explain why he still rallies against marriage equality even after the issue was settled by the Supreme Court.

Once the applause for her inquiry had settled down, Santorum explained that he believed the role of marriage is to “form permanent bonds” between men and women in order to raise children in a stable household.

Symoné pushed back on his point, getting him to begrudgingly admit that same-sex couples could also provide a “very positive and nurturing environment” for children.

Yet the GOP hopeful maintained, “The natural mother and natural father of that child is what historically, and I think sociologically if you look at today, is in the best interest of that child.”
