Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor was involved in a street fight Wednesday night in Boston.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor was involved in a street fight Wednesday night in Boston.

TMZ broke the story when they released video footage of the fight. Okafor, 19, and friends, including one unnamed teammate, were leaving Storyville nightclub when other partygoers began to heckle the group, reports TMZ. Things escalated, and a man identified as Okafor in the video appears to knock out one of the hecklers.

According to ESPN, a source close to Okafor said, “I was around the corner when it happened. I saw him a minute after he knocked the dude out. I think the guy was just talking sh*t. Saying the Sixers suck.”

In the video, the man identified as Okafor shouts back at the hecklers, and at least one person attempts to hold the 6’11 NBA player back. However, he breaks away from them, and a scuffle with a group of hecklers ensues.

Okafor then shoves a man, while another tries to hold him. The 76er then swung, making direct contact with one of the men, and another unidentified man punches Okafor in the back of the head.

Earlier Wednesday evening, the Sixers lost to the Boston Celtic 84-80. Philadelphia is currently (0-16) to start the season.

The 76ers released the following statement in regards to the incident:

We are aware of the report and we are currently working to gather additional information. Until that time, we will have no further comment.
