Darrell Telisme had been losing his boxing matches to Stan Stanisclasse for years, but this Thanksgiving, he finally took the rivalry too far. He was arrested on Thanksgiving for shooting and killing Stanisclasse after he lost his temper during a drunken contest of strength.

“It’s really pretty pathetic and silly,” Stainclasse’s boxing coach at Elite Bowing, Dave Lewter, told the Sun-Sentinel this week.

Stainclasse was a promising boxer who won the 2012 State Golden Gloves Tournament and even tried to qualify for the Olympics. Telisme, on the other hand, was none of those things.

“(Telisme) wasn’t the talented, athletic guy he thought he was,”Lewter told the Palm Beach Post.

However, Telisme seemed to be unable to handle the rivalry, constantly challenging Stanisclasse to more boxing matches and becoming upset with each loss. At one point, Stainsclasse considered carrying a weapon for protection, since he knew that Telisme carried a firearm.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Telisme returned to the apartment building shortly after he had lost the contest of strength and brought a few of his friends with him. Immediately after Stanisclasse stepped outside, Telisme shot and killed his rival.

Telisme now faces murder and firearms charges, according to jail records.
