New York University, Columbia reportedly among Malia Obama’s ‘top choices’ for college

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Barnard College and New York University could welcome a member of the first family next fall: Malia Obama.

There are reportedly other schools in the running, but Barnard and New York University are “among her top choices” according to an NBC New York report.

The 17-year-old Malia has her eyes set on becoming the next big filmmaker — perhaps a big reason why NYU is among her top contenders.

Malia previously interned on the HBO show Girls this past summer. She also reportedly worked as a production assistant on the since-canceled CBS show Extant in 2014.

#BlackGirlMagic is in full effect. We’re wishing the high school senior best of luck in making a decision.

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly cited a NBC New York report concerning Malia Obama “narrowing down” her college choices. New York University and Barnard College are reportedly among her top choices – not necessarily the only two schools remaining on her list.  TheGrio.com regrets the error.
