Videos have recently emerged of multiple San Francisco police officers shooting a man who was wielding a knife.

According the CBS San Francisco, the man, whose name has not been released but who is reported to be in his late twenties, was involved in a nearby stabbing when police caught up to him and was still wielding a knife.

Police claimed that the suspect did not respond when he was shot with bean bags, so harsher measures were necessary.

“They deployed the standard bean bag gun several times. He did not drop the weapon,” Chief Suhr said, noting that the suspect still did not drop the knife after a second round of bean bags were fired.

“This suspect had already shown by committing a felony aggravated assault that he was a danger to others, so he could not be allowed to move away from the scene,” Suhr said.

Different videos of the incident have been uploaded to both Instagram and Twitter. In one video, someone can be heard shouting at the man to “just drop it.”

The videos do not confirm the police used bean bags or fired warning shots. In one Instagram video the suspect appears to be limping and then attempts to continue down the sidewalk toward an officer seconds before several cops open fire on him.

Officers gave the suspect CPR until paramedics arrived, and then he was pronounced dead at the scene.
