Taraji P. Henson defends Chris Brown’s ‘poor’ vocals after ‘White Hot Holidays’ performance

Chris Brown took to Twitter to apologize for his poor vocal performance during 'Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays' special.

Yesterday, Chris Brown took to Twitter to apologize for his poor vocal performance during the Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays special.

The holiday special, which was hosted by Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard as well as a few of their Empire castmates, saw holiday performances from Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Jamie Foxx, but it was Chris Brown who dominated the conversation, with many fans saying that his “This Christmas” performance was, well, underwhelming.

Fans took to Twitter to ask if he was lip-syncing the lyrics to the song, which was a mash-up between “This Christmas” and his new single, “Back to Sleep.” Some even accused Brown of being high during the performance.

So, Brown took to Twitter to clear up all the speculation, pointing to his grueling schedule as the culprit: “Grind season been in full effect. Been under the weather.”

He later deleted the tweet and sent out a humble message to fans, saying, “MJ didn’t score 50 every night. I’m just glad I was given the opportunity.”

For her part, Henson, who helped host the night, took to Twitter to defend Brown, saying, “Y’all know what @chrisbrown is capable of vocally? HE SHOWED UP W/LOVE IN HIS HEART PERIOD.”
