Drinking eggnog -Nothing like some good ole spiked eggnog to really get you in the festive spirit. Don’t worry, the non-alcoholic eggnog is just as good if you are a minor or trying to have a chill night.
Putting up a Christmas tree – What would Christmas be without a putting up a Christmas tree? I’ll wait.
Using gingerbread -Anything gingerbread is a fun time and building gingerbread houses is a great bonding moment for you and a loved one.
Seeing distant relatives – Unfortunately, the holidays mark some of the only times that some folks can see their extended family. Make every memory count!
Going caroling – “We wish you a Merry Christmas! We wish you a Merry Christmas!” Yes, ’tis the season to be gracious towards the more vocally talented friends and family. Give them a tip for all the work they are putting in, bringing a smile to your face.
Singing a family song – “Step Up, Step Up, And Introduce Yourself” … I don’t know if this is just a tradition that my large family does, but every Christmas we do this song before we open presents. It’s a fun and goofy time for the whole family.
Secret Santa gift exchanges – Do you have $20 and a warm, giving heart? Then secret santa pools are for you! Pull a name and show someone how much they mean to you, for the cheap.
Eating candy canes – Some are minty. Some are sweet. But they all taste good!
Kissing under mistletoe – For the couples, lovers and all in between. If you have a special someone you want to show some love towards, then this is for you.
Going to church – Some of you may be throwing side eye, but we all know someone who only goes to church during the holiday season. Whatever floats your boat.
Participating in a nativity scene – Want to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, and the birth of Jesus? Then put on your acting shoes and be apart of someone’s nativity scene.
Traveling – Some people are limited to traveling only during the holidays due to their work or school schedules. It can be expensive, but it sure is a lot of fun.
Eating chitlins (also spelled chitterlings) – For those of you into this delicacy, good for you. This is perhaps one of the smelliest and nastiest food items to ever exist. However, it’s apparently good with hot sauce.
Celebrating Kwanzaa – Besides Christmas and New Years, we lucky folk get our own holiday where we get to celebrate being Black. Yasssssss.
