Four-year-old Bryan Allen, Jr. was living alone at home with his mother for two days after she had died of natural causes.

Employees at the Buffalo Rent-A-Center noticed something was wrong when they called the boy’s home and Bryan told them that his mother would not wake up.

Taijuan Littleton, a driver for the Rent-A-Center, then went out to the boy’s home and saw that he was alone, wearing only a diaper, and that his mother was collapsed on the floor. He called for help.

“I realized right there it was not good,” said Littleton.

Littleton, who is a father of three himself, was eventually able to get the boy to open the door while employees kept him talking on the phone. “I wrapped him up in a cover and took him outside to my van because it was very cold that day, just to get him out of the house,” Littleton said.

Since the boy was discovered, the community has come together to bring him a happy Christmas after what he had to endure. The police department bought little Bryan a bicycle, and other members of the community have continued to bring gifts and donations to precincts in the area. Police have promised to get all the donations to the family and to donate any items that Bryan’s family cannot use to other families in need.

Police officials said if people are interested in donating to Bryan’s family, send to:
