Trailers released for John Legend-produced series 'Underground'

Wednesday, WGN America released trailers for their new mini-series, Underground.

The 10-episode thriller is set to follow a group of character as they navigate their escape from slavery.

John Legend is executive-producing the project along with his Get Lifted partners, and the cast includes:

Jurnee Smollett-Bell (True Blood), Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Christopher Meloni (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Alano Miller (Jane the Virgin), ‎Jessica de Gouw (Arrow), Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), ‎Adina Porter (The 100), Mykelti Williamson (Justified), ‎Amirah Vann (Girls), Johnny Ray Gill (Rectify), Chris Chalk (Gotham), Reed Diamond (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Theodus Crane (The Walking Dead) and Renwick Scott (Treme).

What makes the trailers interesting is that they tell the story from two very different perspectives: a blacksmith organizing an effort to escape and a slave owner trying to protect his investment.

Underground will premiere Wednesday, March 9th on WGN.
