Beyoncé’s publicist is speaking out, denying that she’s in any way attached to a rumored upcoming film project.
This week, reports surfaced that Queen Bey was writing a screenplay, which she would star in, about Saartjie Baartman, a South African woman who “performed” against her will under the name ‘Hottentot Venus.’ Baartman was put on display in London throughout the early 1800s and revered for her physique and large backside.
However, the reports are completely false.
“BEYONCÉ is in no way tied to this project. This is an important story that should be told, however,” a rep for Beyoncé said in a statement to theGrio.
