William Balfour, who is serving life in prison for killing Jennifer Hudson’s family, is speaking out from prison for the first time and maintaining his innocence.
Balfour was convicted of shooting and killing Hudson’s mother and brother as well as her 7-year-old nephew.
“I didn’t have nothing to do with the case and don’t know who had anything to do with the case,” Balfour told ABC-7.
Although prosecutors maintained that Balfour had threatened Julia Hudson and her family before, he claims that he had never threatened them. “That never occurred. Them are all allegations,” he said.
Asked why a 7-year-old would have been killed for a conspiracy, Balfour said, “That’s what I’m saying… it could have been a wrong place at the wrong time, the person who come in there to kill somebody don’t kill who they kill. If you are a witness and you can identify somebody, they can say I killed him because he could have identified me but that’s not the case. He could identify me and that’s why he got killed. Or he killed him because he could identify him. Now Julian was smart, he could remember faces.”
He said that the real murderer was “heartless, straight heartless. He isn’t got no family morals, nothing.”
