Couple abandons 4 young children to watch movie on Valentine’s Day

A Louisiana couple was arrested on four counts of child desertion after they left their four young children, ages 8 months to 8 years, at home alone while they went to the movies.

A Louisiana couple was arrested on four counts of child desertion after they left their four young children, ages 8 months to 8 years, at home alone while they went to the movies.

Catherine Brumfield and Terrance Swinney had gone out to the movies on Valentine’s Day and were arrested when they returned home after deputies received a call about the children.

Deputies were alerted to the problem when the 8-year-old was spotted walking down the street with the 8-month old. He told the deputies that he was looking for his parents.

When deputies took them back home, they also discovered a 5-year-old and 3-year-old child. All four were home alone.

After the couple was arrested on charged of child desertion, they bonded out of jail on Monday, while the children were placed in the care of the state.
