Amazing Harvard graduation speech

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Donovan Livingston just received his master’s degree in education, and to celebrate, he gave his speech in spoken word.

This speech has gotten all corners of the internet buzzing and has drawn millions of views. Even some celebrities, like Justin Timberlake, have spoken about how moving they found his speech.

His spoken word poem dealt with the historic obstacles that have kept black students from getting the best educations. He began his poem with a quote by education reformer Horace Mann and went on to mention many influential African-Americans. Two of those he touched upon were poet Langston Hughes and abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

The Harvard Graduate School of Education itself posted the video of Livingston’s speech on Facebook, calling it “One of the most powerful, heartfelt student speeches you will ever hear!”

The speech has been seen by over 8 million people.
