Expectations are high after Baz Luhrmann’s new Netflix series about the 1970’s-era South Bronx, “The Get Down,” released a new trailer on Sunday.

“Told through the lives and music of the South Bronx kids,’The Get Down’ is a mythic saga of how New York at the brink of bankruptcy gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco,” ScreenCrush reports in an official synopsis.

A longer trailer for the series was released back in January, but this most recent peek at the show is keeping fans quenched until the its official release in August.

Baz Luhrmann credited the rapper Nas for being a big help during the creation of this series. The newest trailer even features a new track by the rapper, which highlights a few of the show’s themes. He raps,”I came from the city/Back in the time/1977, it was maximum crime.”

The cast consists of many actors of color, including Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”), Justice Smith (“Paper Towns”), Shameik Moore (“Dope”) and Jaden Smith (“Karate Kid”). The cast is also anchored by quite a few fresh faces such as Herizen Guardiola, a young singer-songwriter sure to flex her musical skills in this acting debut.
