STARZ renews ‘Power’ for two more seasons after record-breaking premiere

“Power” is back, and it’s getting another two seasons.

After the premiere of the third season become the network’s “most-watched episode of any Starz original ever,” with 2.26 million viewers, STARZ announced the renewals for the next two seasons.  The show made a move to Sunday nights and many watched and waited to see how it would perform.

“I knew ‘Power’ was going to be something special from the first concept meeting I had with Mark Canton,” said 50 Cent. “The fans’ support for the show has been the driving force of its success and I can’t wait to bring them two more seasons full of action and suspense.”

The show’s executive producer and showrunner is Courtney A. Kemp, one of few black female showrunners in the industry, has been applauded for creating a show that is authentic, gritty and glamorous.

“I’m so excited that people are excited about the show,” Kemp told theGrio at the Season 3 New York premiere.  “I feel like I’m unwrapping a big gift for the fans.”

The show’s stars Omari Hardwick, Naturi Naughton, Lela Loren and Joseph Sikora have been making their rounds to promote Season 3 and now have a little something more to celebrate.

“Wow! THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!#BestFansEver #Starz #PowerTV #blessed,” Naughton wrote on Instagram.  “I had to sit down on a park bench,” wrote co-star Lela Loren.
