Dr. Dre handcuffed outside his Los Angeles home

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

On Monday, Dr. Dre, real name Andre Young, was handcuffed outside his Los Angeles home when a motorist initiated a private person’s arrest after claiming that Young had pointed a gun at him.

Sheriff’s deputies who responded said that there was no evidence that Young had pointed the gun at the motorist, and there was no weapon recovered at the scene.

Young claimed that there were no threats made and that the man had been blocking his driveway, but the man claimed that Young had “ordered him to leave and produced a handgun.”

According to Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Reed, a private person’s arrest can be made when a deputy has not actually seen an alleged crime take place. “Due to the nature of the call, the person was searched, handcuffed, and briefly detained in a patrol car while deputies investigated the incident,” Reed said.

Young told deputies that the man was parked directly in front of his residence and that he later returned to park in the exact same spot in front of the median. Young allegedly took out his cell phone to record the incident before the man drove away.

Sources close to the incident say that the man had followed Young home after a road rage incident.
