‘White people to the back of the march’: Protest leader calls for racial segregation of supporters

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

An organizer at a Black Lives Matter protest was caught on video ordering white people and reporters to go to the back of the march during a demonstration outside the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

The as yet unnamed organizer can be seen on video with a microphone not only leading chants aimed against the Philadelphia Police Department but also calling for a racial segregation of the march, ordering white protesters and journalists to take less prominent positions.

Before the march began, the woman told white people at the protest, “Take your rightful position, behind us.”

Although protesters seemed to decry the segregation, with one person drawing parallels to Rosa Parks being told to go to the back of the bus, the woman, who was standing in front of a red and black anarchist flag, did not seem to pay them any mind.

“I want to see all of the white folks at the back of the crowd,” she said. “White people, get to the back. Black people, come to the front.”

She then pointed out individual people in the crowd and began to order them to go to positions in the back of the march.
