Al Roker went and did something very surprising and very welcome: he went off on the topic of Ryan Lochte. The internet wasn’t expecting it, but they welcomed it nonetheless.
Roker said that if the blond-haired, white swimmer was black or Latino, he would not be getting the easy treatment he is currently getting the benefit of. He even went so far as to say that the US Olympic swim team disgraced themselves and the entire country when they lied about a robbery incident in Rio.
“He lied. He lied to you. He lied to Matt Lauer,” Roker raged. “He lied to his mom. He left his teammates hanging while he skedaddled… There was no robbery. There was no pull-over. There was nothing. Nobody cocked a gun to his head. He lied!”
His co-host Billy Bush made the mistake of mentioning that Roker should calm down, which didn’t go over well.
By the end of the segment, Roker was still visibly irritated.
The Twitterverse erupted when the exchange hit the air waves, with many people stating that Roker was simply saying what many are already thinking.

Just saw the Al Roker thing. A black man hasn't had to fix a Bush's mistakes like that since 2008.
