Pastor who mocked Pulse nightclub victims now accused of molesting boy at church

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A Georgia pastor has been arrested on child molestation charges, the same pastor who once mocked the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting.

Ken Adkins, 56, of St. Simons Island turned himself over to police on Friday night on charges of aggravated child molestation.

The pastor has congregations in Atlanta, Brunswick and Jacksonville and has always been an outspoken anti-LGBT activist, but it was after the Pulse gay nightclub shooting that he drew widespread condemnation. In that shooting, 49 innocent people were shot and killed, with 53 others left wounded.

“I don’t see none of them as victims,” Adkins posted on Twitter. “I see them as getting what they deserve!!”

The alleged sexual abuse of the boy happened at Adkins’ church in Brunswick, in the pastor’s car and in the victim’s home according to prosecutors. According to Adkins’ lawyer, who said the information came from the investigators, the abuse was supposed to have taken place in 2010.

Adkins’ wife, Charlotte Stormy Adkins, said that her husband would be cleared of all charges and showed concern for the boy who has come forward with these allegations. She said that the boy was part of their church and had been mentored by her and her husband.

She will be taking over for her husband as pastor while he fights the charges.
