‘The ni**ers are coming!’: Video shows black actor getting harassed while filming a commercial

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

An unnamed motorist called out “The ni**ers are coming, the ni**ers are coming!” to a black actor filming a commercial in Edmonton, Alberta, on Wednesday. The commotion was all caught on video.

Jesse Lipscombe, an actor and former high-jump champion, was filming a commercial about how much he loves the city of Edmonton when the incident happened: a man pulled up in his car and started yelling.

The former athlete pulled open the man’s car door and confronted him. The man pretended it wasn’t him that said anything, only to yell the N-word again as he drove off.

According to Lipscombe, he confronted the man because he wanted him to also feel uncomfortable about the encounter.

Lipscombe went on to post the video to Facebook and drew thousands of supportive messages.

“It wasn’t shocking. It’s a thing that happens to people of colour, to women, to Muslims on a daily basis,” he stated.

“It’s an unfortunate reality that minorities in all ways have had to desensitize themselves to this on a daily basis just to get by,” he said.

The actor has a message for the man in the car: “Thanks for your ignorance, and hopefully when you watch yourself with your two minutes of fame, you can see what you look like in the actual light as opposed to what you think you are when you probably hang out with your friends.”
