During the September 12 episode of “The Daily Show,” host Trevor Noah interviewed T.I. about his most recent videos for “We Will Not” and “Warzone,” which call out police brutality.

“I’m a huge hip-hop fan,” Noah says in the interview. “And then you get people who say ‘I hear you guys saying you want justice, I hear hip-hop stars and fans saying this is not right…but in hip-hop people are talking about guns, people are talking about shooting people or saying things like ‘F**k the police! They go like ‘How is this helping the dialogue?’ As a hip-hop artist, how do you reply to that?”

“People need to take into consideration that hip-hop traditionally has always been a reflection of the environment,” T.I. explains before adding, “if you want to change the content of the music, change the environment of the artist. And he won’t have such negative things to say.”
