On "Oprah: Where Are They Now?", Gina Neely is opening up about what led to her divorce with husband and former Food Network co-star Pat Neely.

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Gina and Pat Neely hosted their Food Network Show “Down Home With the Neelys,” together for eleven seasons, and anyone watching would have thought they had the most affectionate relationship ever. So in 2014, when they announced that their 19-year marriage was ending, many were simply shocked.

Now, Gina Neely is opening up about what led to the divorce on this weekend’s episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?”

“He felt like we didn’t spend enough time together,” Gina explained. “I felt like we did and we needed a little space.”

She went on to say that she was already considering divorce by the time the two of them started their show together.

“I was thinking about divorce right before we got the TV show,” she said. “We went to therapy 12 times. I tried to leave five times, and I just didn’t have the strength. But the fifth time, I held onto that.”

She then added, “It became necessary for me to find my path. And I knew I wasn’t happy. I said, ‘I’m definitely not going to [turn] 50 and not be happy.’ So, at 46, I started changing my life…. I realized I liked that better.”

“Pat’s not a bad guy, he’s just not for me.”
