Tyra Banks on Naomi Campbell: ‘I’m still very scared of her’

Tyra Banks said recently that the scars of her rivalry with Naomi Campbell are still there.

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Back in the 90s, Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell had a bit of a rivalry as Banks claimed that Campbell was mean to her before Campbell appeared on her talk show to say that she had never been mean.

Back then, the two appeared to reconcile, but Banks said recently that the scars of that rivalry are still there.

“I got to Paris, and it was very difficult. I did really well really fast, but then the industry was saying, ‘Oh, look out Naomi Campbell, here comes Tyra Banks! So Naomi Campbell, sit your butt down.’ It wasn’t fair to Naomi, because [they weren’t saying this to the other model that weren’t Black]. But her response was … to this day, I’m very scared of her. It was very difficult. — like some of my lowest times of my life — dealing with that,” she told the Norwegian chat show Skavlan.
