Rae Carruth’s son hopes to face him despite his role in his attempted murder

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

When he is released from prison in 2018, Rae Carruth will finally have to face the son he tried to kill.

Carruth, who was a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers will soon be let out for the shooting that took the life of Cherica Adams, who was pregnant with their son at the time of her death.

That son, Chancellor, will be standing outside of the prison the day his father is released.

Chancellor has been raised by his grandmother, Saundra since his mother was killed when she refused Carruth’s instruction for her to have an abortion. That is when Carruth decided to hire someone to kill her.

Cherica was 8 months pregnant when she was shot four times. While each of the bullets missed Chancellor, he was left with permanent brain damage as his mother bled out.

Carruth was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder.

Saundra lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and says that Carruth met his son once time when he was just a year old. She plans to give him more information about his son when he is released.

‘Maybe I can just talk to him and tell him some important things about what his son his doing and where he is in his life,’ she said.

While claiming his innocence, Carruth has never once tried to contact his son.

Despite it all, Saundra has forgiven Rae Carruth.

‘The main reason I want Rae and Chancellor to one day have a relationship is because (Chancellor) is his son.

‘And that’s why I chose early on that I would forgive Rae. Because I don’t feel like I can offer unconditional love to Chancellor if I don’t forgive Rae.

‘That’s his father. It’s a part of him. Chancellor wouldn’t be who he is without Rae,’

She thinks that Chancellor might be the only person who can make Carruth accept his role in the death of Cherica and if he rejects his son, he will be losing ‘out on the opportunity to know a really great young man.’
