President Obama brings nephews to final Thanksgiving turkey pardon and it’s great (WATCH)

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

President Obama gave his final national Thanksgiving turkey pardon on Wednesday with two new special guests by his side.

Usually flanked by daughters Sasha and Malia, POTUS gave them a break from sitting through his dad jokes and brought his young nephews instead: Aaron and Austin Robinson.

“This year, they had a scheduling conflict,” President Obama said of his daughters.  “Actually, they just couldn’t take my jokes anymore.”

Nephews Aaron and Austin are the sons of Craig Robison, First Lady Michelle’s Obama’s brother.

“They still believe in bad puns,” joked Obama. “They still believe in the grandeur of this occasion. They still have hope.”

President Obama used the occasion to give a formal pardon to two turkeys named Tater and Tot and encouraged the crowd to remember “we have a lot more in common than divides us.”

He also took a moment to express his gratitude for all the support he’s received over his presidency:

“On this Thanksgiving, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the American people for the trust that you’ve placed in me over these last eight years and the incredible kindness that you’ve shown my family.”

“On behalf of Michelle, and my mother-in-law and our girls, we want to thank you so very, very much.”

It’s fair to say we’re just as grateful to the president and the First Family for holding down the White House with such grace and class.
