An infant was found over two dozen feet from the roadway after being ejected from a car during a crash on an Arkansas road.

In the accident, a truck sideswiped another car, and the family vehicle rolled over, at which point the 8-month-old was ejected.

Rescuers searched the area for the infant until they heard a noise nearby, at which point they discovered the little girl in a storm drain with only a scratch on her forehead and no other injuries.

“The baby was sitting up and looking up at us waiting for us to pull her out,” Texarkana firefighter Josh Moore said.

Three firefighters intervened to get her out of the drain after authorities believe she rolled down the hill.

“There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up being OK,” Moore said.

“So many times, we go out and things aren’t OK and just during the holidays here to have a positive just feels good,” fellow rescuer Texarkana Fire Capt. Charlie Smith said.

Police confirmed that the infant was not properly restrained in the car seat and that the car seat was not properly installed. However, no citation has been issued.

The infant and four others in the car were taken to the hospital, and all have been released but the driver, who is still recovering.
