Colin Kaepernick donates to Black Youth Project 100

Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback who has this year been surrounded by all sorts of controversy since he rose to national attention for sitting out the national anthem in protest, is giving back to the community by donating to the Black Youth Project 100.

Kaepernick donated to the Chicago chapter of the organization, and while it was not immediately clear how much he donated, a rep for the Chicago chapter did say that the donation would go toward “Chapter-specific ideas and endeavors centered around advancing our Agenda to Build Black Futures.”

Black Youth Project 100 is “dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people” and has stated that the Agenda to Build Black Futures is “a set of economic goals and structural changes that could improve the lives of Black people living in America.”

In Septembe, Kaepernick said that he would be donating $1 million to different charities and organizations and specifically said that he would be looking for organizations in Chicago.

“I’ll continue to look at other communities in Chicago, as well, as far as what are ways I can help and what are ways I can try to help empower those communities,” he said.
