‘White Power’ vandals trash interracial couple’s home
An interracial couple returned home from the holiday to find their home had been defaced with swastikas and “white power” slogans.
An interracial couple and their daughter from Ohio returned home from a Thanksgiving holiday only to find their home had been defaced with swastikas and “white power” slogans.
Pat and Joe Jude say that the home was significantly damaged while they were away. On top of the painted slogans on the walls, the pipes had been broken, leading to flooding, and many of their appliances had been destroyed.
“They hit every cabinet with paint,” Pat Jude said. “They hit every wall with paint. They hit every appliance, they poured paint into the appliances. They poured cement down the drains. I mean there is nothing that is salvageable.”
One would think this was the worst form of racism the couple has faced, but it is not.
Six years ago, their 16-year-old son committed suicide due to bullying over being biracial.
“We’ve gone through that,” Pat said. “You never get over it, but then you come in here, and it’s the same kind of stuff.”
