Lamar Odom recently checked himself into a rehabilitation facility in San Diego, California.

“It was his own decision. He wanted to work on his mental and physical health for the next chapter of his life,” a source told E! News. “He has not fallen off the wagon, but he understands the importance of maintaining his sobriety.”

The move comes a year after Odom had a nearly fatal overdose in Los Vegas and was hospitalized after he was found unconscious in a brothel.

While recovering from that harrowing experience, Odom has experienced some hard times, though E! News refuted reports that he was so bad off that he was homeless.

“Lamar’s not homeless. He has a nice place in California,” an E! News source insisted. “He is doing well. He is determined to stay on the straight and narrow [path] and wants to be the best father he can possibly be and he is doing the work required to achieve that.”

“It is not easy, but he is focused and determined.”
