A Missouri school district has apologized for “unsportsmanlike” and “insensitive” behavior of their students, after one student displayed a Trump sign in front of a boys basketball team on Monday night while others turned their backs on the black boys team.

The incident happened during the player introductions of the opposite team from Center High School. All of the players on that team are black or bi-racial.

There is a video on Facebook that has had over 6,800 shares that shows the white students turning their backs as each black player is introduced.

The statement from the Warrensburg Missouri school district said the following:

Members of our student body acted inappropriately and were insensitive toward our opponents. The Warrensburg R-VI School District does not condone these actions and apologizes to anyone who was offended by the actions of these students. We will do everything we can to keep incidents like this from happening again.

Scott Patrick stated in an interview that students often turn their backs on the opposing team but that this case was different.

“I think in this case, (the Trump sign) was really the difference in what took this from something that was unsportsmanlike to something that was insensitive, not necessary and inappropriate,” he said.

Center High School won the game.
