A 3-year-old boy was killed in a road rage shooting in Arkansas on Saturday.

The altercation occurred when a driver fired a gun into the vehicle because the boy’s grandmother “wasn’t moving fast enough at a stop light,” according to police.

The grandmother, Kim King-Macon of Little Rock Arkansas, was in the car with the unidentified boy and another child when the incident occurred. A man stepped out of his vehicle and fired into the car she was driving.

The little boy was struck at least one time.

The grandmother drove to a shopping center and called police. Emergency responders arrived at approximately 6:22 p.m., at which time the boy was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to King-Macon, a black Chevy Impala pulled behind her while she stopped at a traffic light. When the driver reportedly honked at her, she honked back.

“A black male then exited [the Impala] and fired one shot,” according to a report. It was not until the grandmother got to the shopping mall that the grandmother realized the boy had been shot. King-Macon and the other child were not injured in the shooting.

The victim and the shooter are not known to one another, and the shooter is still at large. Police have asked the public for assistance in the case.
