A New Mexico convenience store is drawing controversy because of signs posted in the windows.

Pictures of the signs have been shared on Facebook, drawing criticism as many are calling them offensive, racist, and vulgar.

“It’s been here a long time,” Marlon McWilliams, who used to work at the store, said of the offensive signs, later adding, “If you go in there and you offend him, you can’t go in there no more. He turns lots of people away.”

Although McWilliams has not worked at the store for years, the signs are still there, though they are not all the same.

The signs include such messages as “Obama & other Muslims Not welcome here,” though some take aim at the Clintons instead of the Obamas.

“They’re offensive to me from time to time, but you know that’s my opinion,” McWilliams said. “That’s the way I feel.”

He added that he tries not to go to the convenience store if he can help it, though other people go in and buy the signs themselves.

The convenience store itself is also up for sale.

“I wish somebody would buy it,” said McWilliams. “I really do, because it would be a great asset for somebody to be there to run it. Because that’s the only place you can go to get milk and bread.”
