Kim Burrell’s ‘Ellen’ visit reportedly cancelled after anti-gay remarks

According to Janelle Monae, Kim Burrell's appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" won't be happening after her homophobic remarks hit the internet.

According to Janelle Monáe, Kim Burrell’s appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” won’t be happening after her homophobic remarks hit the internet.

Monáe told TMZ that the gospel singer was set to perform with Pharrell–with whom she did a duet on the soundtrack of Hidden Figures–but now, Monae and Pharrell are the only ones set to appear on the “Ellen” show.

According to Monae, it was the sermon against homosexuals that Burrell gave last week that tanked any chance of an appearance on the show.

Update: Ellen Degeneres has since responded to the Kim Burrell controversy, tweeting “For those asking, Kim Burrell will not be appearing on my show.”
