Trump hires son-in-law as senior advisor in his adminstration
Donald Trump will reportedly be appointing his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to the position of senior advisor to the president.
Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump, has been distancing himself from his father-in-law as he takes steps to clear the way to a position in politics. What’s more, he and Ivanka have already moved to Washington.
If Kushner takes the position, it will be similar to the one he held while working on the campaign trail.
As for Ivanka, she is reportedly the subject of a press conference to be held on Wednesday in which Trump is expected to announce that she will not be running his business while he is in office.

However, in order to accept the appointment, Kushner will need to face anti-nepotism laws that would prevent officials from appointment family members to government positions.
“Mr. Kushner is committed to complying with federal ethics laws and we have been consulting with the Office of Government Ethics regarding the steps he would take,” Jamie Gorelick, a partner at the law firm of WilmerHale, said in a statement.
“Although plans are not finalized, Mr. Kushner would resign from his position at Kushner Companies and divest substantial assets in accordance with federal guidelines,” Gorelick said, adding that Kushner “would recuse from particular matters that would have a direct and predictable effect on his remaining financial interests. He would also abide by federal rules requiring impartiality in particular matters involving specific parties.”
